The Scramble is a loop with two distance options:  4 miles, 6-7 miles.  This is a fun and unique run that combines running on trails, beach, rocky shoreline, and some rock scrambling.  It is an excellent workout for your quick twitch muscles, and the scenery is second to none.

This run starts at the American camp parking lot.  Head SE toward the encampment, and take your first trail right (about 150 meters).  Follow this all the way to the beach.  Run along the bluffs, on the beach, and rock scramble all the way to Pickett Ln (South Beach Road Access).  Run up Pickett Ln towards Cattle Point road.  For the short loop, take a left at the redoubt and follow the dirt road back to American camp parking lot.  For the longer loop, cross cattle point road to Jagal's Lagoon trail head.   Run  an additional 3-4 miles on the trail system around Mt. Finlayson.

The scramble aspect of this loop along the beach is strenuous only if you decide to run the beach and rocks.  Participants not wanting to risk a strained tendon or ligament can simply run the trail on the bluff above the beach.  Enjoy the seals, otters, eagles, whales, and straits views

This is a favorite of Brian Goodremont, and Brent Molsberry.
