Last Sunday, Stan and I, were running and as we were finishing the snow began and, boy, did it come down!
Now the streets are covered with ice and packed snow making them really unsafe for running, unless you have spikes in the soles of your shoes. Wednesday the rains are to return and maybe we will be out running again.

Think of this run as a excellent excuse for really enjoying your Thanksgiving Dinner, if you needed one. This 5K, 3.1 mile, run runs out Lampard Road with excellent views of the valley and, maybe, Trumpter Swans. You can run, walk, skip, or whatever your two legs can do.
Start time will be 9:00 in front of the Best Western. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and fees will be $5.00 and two cans of food for adults and $2.00 and two cans of food for kids under 16. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot will go to the Friday Harbor Food Bank. This event is management of Island Athletic Events. For more information call 472-0908 or leave a comment.

At about 8:30 a.m., five runners; Brian C., Brian G., Paul, Lanie V. and myself left the Golden Arches of Roche Harbor and headed the rainy, soaked ten miles back to Friday Harbor. This annual tradition of Brian's goes back some ten years or so. I think I have run five birthday runs with him, and today was the wettest and coldest.
When we reached about the three mile part the rain came. We had been having on and off rain through out the first seven miles but at mile three the rain came heavy, hard and cold. With wind as well. Brain old knee injury started to cause him pain and we combined some walking in to our last three miles. Brian G. and Paul moved ahead of us about the two or three mile mark and Lanie took off power walking at the seven mile mark. Happy Birthday!!! Total Running Time: 2:00 Number of wet socks: 10 Saturday, November 11

Course: Stan the Man and I did the Dump Loop with running first through the trails of F.H. Labs. Upon reaching Sutton Road we stopped by Paul's house and gave him a bad time for not running with us. From Sutton we ran down, without Paul, to Roche Harbor Road and then back to town and to home. We had a nice run.

Brian Calvert birthday is coming up soon on the 15th. He is going to be 55. I know what you are thinking; the Dude looks 60, but he is really 55. Anyway, each year for about as many years as I have known Brian, he runs the 10 miles from Roche Harbor to town. As a celebration, I suppose, that he can still move.
This year's run will be on Sunday, November 12. Meet at the parking lot of the Port, 8:00 a.m., to car pool. Run starts near 8:30 a.m. up at the lower parking lot of Roche, by where the arches used be. Or where the new arches are going to be.
