Jane Hutchison, local triathlete on San Juan Island, finished the Ford Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 5 hours, 17 minutes and 18 seconds.  With this finishing time she placed 24th in her age group.

The Ford Ironman 70.3 World Championship was held today, November 10, in Clearwater, FL.  Comprising of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bicycle ride and finishes up with a 13.1 mile run.  Hutchison qualified to participate in this event on July 6th  at the Lake Stevens  qualifying event in 5:40:13.  This is her first visit to compete on the World Championship level.

Hutchison times for this event was; swimming:  38:23, bicycling:  2:34 and her run event was in 1:52, for her total time of 5:17:18.

Speaking via the phone, after the event, Hutchison said that she was happy with her results, especially since the swim was an ocean swim and local events are lake swims.  "I am happy with how things turned out, there are some things that I learned, but overall I am happy.

Jane and her support crew arrive back to the island on Wednesday night.
