Lake Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon had all the ingredients for a great race.  Great weather with nice running temperatures at the start time.  Beautiful scenery as we ran down and around the bottom on the lake from the western side.

The problem with this race was the management which provided only water and some gatoraide along the course.  We were given a GU in our race packet, but none was provided on the course.  Running against the traffic, especially the last 8 miles or so along the eastern shore, was very nerve racking as the cars zoomed by in mass numbers.  With the warm temperatures towards the end of the race, I really needed something to give me some energy and completely ran out of gas at mile 23.

I ended up with a 4:17, which was disappointing to me as I was on pace for a 3:54 with four miles to go.  I could have used another GU.

Next week Bellingham Bay Marthon.
